Professor Jianghui LIU, Dean of SFB Invited to the "Work Conference of China's Universities and Colleges that Newly Offer MBA Program" and Delivered a Keynote Speech

On 29^th August, the "Work Conference of China's Universities and Colleges that Newly Offer MBA Program" was successfully held in Hangzhou, China. This conference was hosted by China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee and the Association of Chinese Graduate Education, and organized by the College of Economics & Management of China Jiliang University. More than 90 responsible persons from 40+ universities and colleges that newly offer MBA Program attended the Conference. Professor Jianghui LIU (Dean of SFB), Professor Zhouwei WANG (Associate Dean of SFB) and Associate Professor Xiaotao ZHENG (Deputy Director of SFB MBA Center) were invited to the Conference. The Conference was presided over by Ms. Ping WANG, Director of the Secretariat Office of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee and Secretary-General of the Working Committee for MBA Program of the Association of Chinese Graduate Education.

Other participants of the Conference include: Ms. Zhihong YI, Vice Chair of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee and former Vice Chancellor of Renmin University of China; Mr. Jingqin SU, former Dean of School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology; Mr. Deqiu CHEN, Committee Member of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee and Dean of Business School at University of International Business and Economics; Mr. Xiaoyun XIE, Committee Member of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee and Associate Dean of School of Management at Zhejiang University. These participants attended the Conference and delivered keynote speeches on MBA education reform, construction of education quality assurance framework, characteristics of school operation, etc.

Focusing on two themes "Construction of Education Quality Assurance Framework for MBA Program" and "Management and Construction of MBA Program", parallel forums of the Conference were held in the afternoon. Responsible persons for MBA Program at 8 institutions, include Shanghai Normal University (SHNU), Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Shanxi University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Beihang University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Southeast University delivered keynote speeches. Among these 8 institutions, SHNU is the only institution that newly offers MBA Program. As the responsible person of SFB's MBA Program, Professor Jianghui LIU, Dean of SFB delivered a keynote speech titled "Preserving Heritage, Taking Advantages and Innovating: to Construct MBA Program of SHNU Characteristics and Comparative Advantages" in a parallel forum. The speech was highly recognized by Committee Members of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee, responsible persons from universities and colleges that newly offer MBA Program and other participants of the Conference.

In his keynote speech, Professor Jianghui LIU first analyzed the temporal and spatial environment for SFB SHNU's MBA Program: SFB SHNU offers MBA Program relatively late, and the competition among peer institutions in Shanghai is quite intense. Under such situation, in order to promote high-quality development of SFB SHNU's MBA Program, Professor Jianghui LIU, Dean of SFB SHNU put forward the differentiated tactic of "Preserving Heritage, Taking Advantages and Innovating". To specify, this tactic means "to preserve the heritage of business education, to take advantages of SHNU's outstanding resources, and to innovate in MBA education".

"Preserving Heritage" means to operate the school in accordance with basic rules of MBA education. First of all, SFB SHNU aims to make efforts on the main MBA track (specifically, SFB SHNU seeks to focus on two concentrations: "Digital Intelligence Management" and "Enterprise Innovation Management"), and to deeply understand that the essence of MBA education is career education, so it is necessary to abide by basic rules of MBA education in terms of faculty team construction, course construction, model of teaching, teaching quality control, etc. "Taking Advantages" means that SFB SHNU endeavors to integrate two of SHNU's priority strategies "Innovation in Teacher Cultivation" and "Enhancement in Preponderant Disciplines" into development progress of its MBA Program, and to bring into play SHNU's rich resources and platforms of education, distinctive feature of teacher training as well as strengths in liberal arts. By "Innovating", SFB SHNU aims to concentrate on two main focuses: firstly, to actively promote "Business Plus" Education by offering featured concentrations like "Education Operation and Management Innovation" for its MBA Program; secondly, to integrate cultivation of humanistic temperament into its whole process of talent training, with a view to shape the featured cultivation model of "Business + Humanities".

This Work Conference takes aim at needs of and challenges faced by China's universities and colleges that newly offer MBA Program during their development progress, intending to establish a platform for communication and discussion, and to promote construction and improvement of education quality assurance framework in universities and colleges that newly offer MBA Program, and to help these institutions in enhancement of program operation capabilities and featured development, which was positively evaluated by representatives from participating universities and colleges that newly offer MBA Program.
